2014 Chase Bank Kenyan Everest Expedition
In 2011, alongside my long-time climbing partner Toby Storie-Pugh, I co-founded Expedition Everest, a campaign to get the first Kenyan, Steve Obbayi, to the summit of the world's highest peak. The team set off in March of 2014 for the two-month expedition, planning to summit both Mt. Everest and Mt. Lhotse within a 24-hour period. After a month of acclimatizing, the expedition was tragically cut short when an avalanche broke free on April 18, 2014 killing 16 climbers. In solidarity with the Sherpa community, we made the decision to end the expedition out of respect for those who had lost their lives.
